Kayak Race and Paddle Poker Run

A Special Thanks to ALL the competitors for a successful 2010 Event (results)

For 2011, the Munising Lions Club is pleased to offer an exciting Kayak challenge along the beautiful shore of Lake Superior. Encompassing Munising Bay and Grand Island near Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, this event provides miles of spectacular shoreline to enjoy.

NEW for 2011 is our Paddle Poker Run. As part of our leisure short course event, a playing card challenge will add a bit of destination excitement for cash prizes.

Safety is our priority with a support fleet of boats which include Local, State and National Law Enforcement. Alternate courses are also pre-determined should we encounter inclement weather conditions.

These events are being provided with all experience levels in mind. All types of Kayaks are also welcome, including surf skis. There will be long and short courses provided ranging from 8 to 15 miles long. The longer 15 mile course is intended to be run as a competitive "Race" style event. The shorter 8 mile course is for those who just want to get out an enjoy kayaking the beautiful Lake Superior shoreline with an added bit of playing card excitement. There will also be a novice course for those interested in giving kayaking a try.

2010 Event Results

A calm morning on Lake Superior and Munising Bay provided for exciting 2010 Pictured Rocks Kayak Quest. The Munising Lions would like to personally thank everyone who entered the event in our second year running. We also cannot forget to thank all the volunteers who took their time and boats out to help with our support fleet. We hope everyone really enjoyed the event and look forward to seeing you (and more) again next year.
